If Only I'd Thought Of It Myself

I had mentioned in an earlier post that I was Prime for a Spring Food Drive being held in my office building.
Well, that is over. It had been over for a few weeks actually. But, I'm still waiting for delivery/pick up of our donations. We didn't do too bad, thanks to a guy I don't even know that works in a different department. lol He had a different way of going about collecting. He collected Money!! Cha Ching! Yup....instead of him placing a box like I did for people to bring in donations, he went around the office and collected CASH. Then, he took himself to Costco and made a purchase of most of what you see in this panoramic photo I took.

If only i'd though of it myself!

Something i'll definitely try next year.
My group, we collected the two white boxes full on the right. Then, I received two boxes beside those from another department. Collecting had been difficult for them because they had just gotten finished fundraising for the Walk So Kids Can Talk 2013. People don't really want to give if they have already given to something. lol Unless they've got something in their cupboards at home that they just want to get rid of. Speaking of getting rid of, that is another problem. When it comes to donating to a food drive people, please don't donate stuff that has been sitting in your cupboards EXPIRED! Come on now!! If you aren't going to eat it yourself, why would you want someone else to? I never noticed it. My good friend did. God Bless Her! She brought it to my attention which had me go looking for this can of expired peaches she was talking about. Found it!!
You are reading correctly!
20090825
Seriously!
Yes, I was able to locate it because as I mentioned, I am still waiting for someone to claim the donations. But, I'm now going to take care of that myself. Usually, our Community Affairs Group that I help out with has these things pre-arranged. However, since the end date of the Food Drive, the Charity that was supposed to claim these donations hasn't been responding. So, I thought I would take matters into my own hands. After all, I know for a fact that churches often have food pantry's. I figured I could just take them to church. Then, when I mentioned it to a friend from church I was reminded - Church in the City. Well duh! If only I thought of it myself!

I've mentioned in several previous posts how myself and my husband, sometimes daughter, travel into the city every few months with others from our church to feed the homeless. We walk right through a food pantry into the kitchen when we are down there to serve - TCRC. They could certainly use our donations. They feed everyone! So, I sent the head of our Community Affairs Group an email to let her know and she was happy with the idea. "Consider it done!" I told her. Next weekend on the way down, I will make a pit stop and collect these donations on behalf of my fellow employees. And, I will certainly know better for next year! Smh. At least I know we wont run into a problem like this when I start getting backpacks filled in August. The company we donated them to last year is Already Making Plans and made contact to ask if we would consider them again this year. lol Proactive or what? Love it!

Anyways.......FURMAN COMES HOME TODAY!! Yay. lol

No more having to FaceTime each other. lol
Although I enjoyed watching the Miami Heat Game with him.

Wish me luck on my 10k run tomorrow.
Actually, let's just pray it doesn't rain until AFTER my run. lol I'm not trying to look like a wet dog.

And all of you....Have an awesome weekend!!!

What I'm Missing

I miss my husband!
But, I know that he is working hard where he is. That's just what he does!
He is perfect for his job.
He's been soo nice to post some photos on Facebook of what he's been upto, where he is. Gotta love him!
Rub it in, rub it in. lmao
So...I thought I would steal a few to share with my readers.

I'll assume from this photo he is not missing me too too much.
He's getting some love from Zoe!

Sandals/Beaches Resorts
We got married at Beaches Negril in 2011. Oh how I miss the beach. These photos were taken by my wonderful husband at various Sandals/Beaches locations in Ocho Rios. Looks like he is in Montego Bay today, according to his check in on Facebook. I'll look forward to his new photos.

For those not familiar with the Sandals Resorts, Beaches Resorts are for families whereas Sandals is adults only. So yeah, if you are reading this and are in need of a vacation, Sandals and Beaches are absolutely breathtaking. Get there! There are many that can help with your booking, or, if you are in Canada...I'm sure my husband would be happy to assist too. Just sayin!

Delirious without hubby! lol
But yeah, I think when I get home tonight i'll have to spread my beach towel on the living room floor with an open umbrella, and put on my bikini in front of a heater (the tan effect, gotta feel the heat) with a drink in hand so I can pretend i'm there. lmao Can you imagine? I know, i've lost my mind.

I've been imagining that my husband has been roaming the resort with Big Bird. lol Oh wait a minute, that is not part of my imagination, it's a True Story. haha

Anyways...while I await further updates from my husband on what he is upto, I just thought I'd blog since I had the time. After all, it's been a busy week for me. Dance class on Monday, then I went to a Fundraising Event/Dinner for the Gideons (supporting the Gideons makes it possible for others to have their own copy of God's Word in their own language) last evening followed by a late movie with my lovely daughter. That's actually where the delirious photo above came from. We were fooling around in the theater and had to snap a photo. I just cropped her out because I haven't shared any photos of my daughter in my blog. Oh, and let me go ahead and post the trailer for the movie we saw because I swear that before last evening I had never even heard of it. lol Big part of the reason for that is probably because I usually fast forward through commercials on the PVR. It wasn't too bad. Was worth some laughs.

Tonight, like I said, it's all about me! And, taking myself to the beach! hahaha You never know, I just might really do it! Then, dance class tomorrow and voila....my hubby is back home Friday and will be ready to support me (and Catie) on a run this weekend - Running4Home - 10k.

Happy Hump Day!
Furman, if you are reading this.......MISS YOU BABY!!

Home Alone

Well, Furman is off on his first business trip (Jamaica) since getting employed with the Canadian office.
I couldn't fit in his suitcase.
I tried, although not literally. Lol
Soo, I'll be here keeping everything warm for his return.

We ran together on Saturday.
It was awesome!
I was able to actually show my husband my progress.
My training program required me to run for an hour and a half this weekend, so Furman set his Garmin (1st Anniversary Gift) and we were off. Hit the trails nearby. Total run was 7.86 miles (12.65kms). Pretty much the same as I ran the previous weekend by myself. 8 Miles.  But this time, everything felt better, thanks to Furman. THANK YOU MY LOVE!! He helped me keep pace so I didn't tire myself out.  As a result I pretty much ran the entire distance without walking or stopping with the exception of a streetlight or two. I'm sure it was a switch for him from the previous times he used to run with me, hearing me complain that I was tired. lmao Not this time!!

En route I even got paid. Lol While on the way back, running against the wind, I saw something slowly trying to fly away. As I tried to grab a quick look as I was passing, I made a quick stop and drop. lmao It was a $20 bill. Woowee. Talk about luck!! That put a little more pep in my step! :) There was nobody around to claim it other than me, so not sure how long it had been crawling on the pavement.

Well, Furman's Garmin alarm went off to let him know that we had hit the hour and a half mark. Thing is, I probably could have run farther. I was feeling damn good compared to my previous run. If anything, my run with Furman confirmed for me that I will certainly be ok to run A MidSummer Night's Run. When the alarm goes off the watch stops keeping track, otherwise Furman probably would have had us keep going a bit farther, just because. Oh, and one thing we did, that I didn't do, that made a whole world of difference.......Last week I finished my run at home, no cool down, which probably explains why I was so heated and full of salt. With Furman, we finished our run a distance from home which gave us time to walk the last bit of distance to cool down. A no brainer, I know! lol So, when I was home, I felt great...wasn't crazy salty or anything! I really did. Look forward to running with my husband again when he returns. Oh, don't get me wrong, I was sore...but it was a good sore. lol All around my hips and stuff. But that didn't stop me from getting back at it this morning. After all, after dropping Furman to the airport to catch his flight, I was wayyyy too early for work. So, the gym it was. Just means that I'll get to relax on my lunch break.

I'll have a busy week while Furman is gone.
So time will fly i'm sure. lol

In my Spinbuddies gear
This is the last week for my dance classes (Second Class)....that is, until I start the Beginner/Intermediate Group. Yes, yes, yes.....I've decided to continue on with it for a while longer. The instructor feels I am ready to advance and well, I'm certainly curious to learn more tricks. It has been quite the workout especially with me doing it twice a week. So, why stop a good thing? lol My husband is supportive so i'll keep at it.

Anyways......Here's wishing everyone an awesome last week of May.
June is right around the corner.
Imagine that!
Time really is flying. lol

Headway

I'm starting to make some headway on my Fundraising. Whew!

Let me tell you, Fundraising can be damn discouraging.
I don't know if I am just not pushy enough?
Too shy?
Smell? lol
...Or what.
Today has been a good day though. Pay Day! lol
It's been a bit easier to approach my colleagues with my desperate face. Pitiful. lol

LMAO! Tryna be funny!
I can hear my momma now, complaining about the wrinkles in my forehead!
Stress!!
What an ugly photo! lol

They're awesome though. I work with some great people.

I still hate it though. Always have. (I remember the days I had to pull mom duty and sell chocolates or cookies for the kids at school. Oh...or for my daughter's baton club. Ugh)
Even if it's for a good cause, I still hate it! (Obviously because i'm not good at it. lol)
In this case, the Hospital for Sick Children which is definitely a great cause.
A Midsummer Night's Run

Other than the fundraising, i'm doing my part. I'm training. 8 Miles.
15k will be within my reach soon enough.
I have another long training run to do this weekend. Push myself a bit farther. Just hope the weather will be decent because it has totally sucked the last few days. In fact, I know I saw SNOW coming down this morning on my way to work. Mother Nature just doesn't realize it's almost June. She must be finally getting old!! lol

Furman, well, he'll be in Jamaica next week - on business. (Already!) He'll get to flash his PR Card. lol Hope he brings some decent weather back home with him. I'm clearly in the wrong line of work. lol
Almost left my job once to be a flight attendant though. hahahaha True Story!
Whatever will I do while he is gone? PARTAY!!!  jk jk He knows me! I wont be doing jack! Nada! Other than my dance classes and my training. After all, I've gotta do a 10k with Catie next weekend. (Her first). Gotta be ready.
No Bling though.

Anyways....here's wishing everyone an awesome weekend.
TGIF!

Thanks again to all that have sponsored me and those that are still thinking about it.
You Rock!
It may not seem like it, but i'm actually about half way to my goal. Yay!
Help me get there if you can.

8 Miles

Almost made it!
This weekend I reached a milestone in my training.
I almost ran a full 8 Miles!!  Woo Hoo.

I was definitely the "Little Engine That Could" on Saturday. lol Furman was working his first Saturday shift and well, I wasn't quite sure what to do with myself other than RELAX. (Something that he keeps telling me to do).

I knew in My Training Program that I had to do an 80 minute run to complete my week. So, Saturday afternoon I hit the roads.

I took a route other than I usually do. Figured that I needed different scenery to keep me motivated. (And new music, so I used Songza for part of the way) But, when I reached a point in my run where I thought I'd had enough, my tracker indicated that I had only run about 5k. Ugh! I had to keep going! So I did! I swear, I don't remember ever feeling so dehydrated. lol My lips were dry as dry could be. Man it was hot outside. (I certainly understand the reasoning behind early morning or evening runs).

Maybe not the best choice of running drink.
I had to cheat at a certain point because I couldn't take it anymore. When I say cheat, I just mean that I made a quick stop at a local convenience store I was passing so that I could buy a drink. After all, even in a race you get water stations. lol Man, did that drink ever hit the spot. Then, I convinced myself to run the opposite way from where I needed to go just so that I could add some more time and mileage to my run. Good thing I did!
If only I had paid more attention to my tracker towards the end. I would have pushed myself to keep going just to reach that 8 Mile mark. lol But hey....I got close to it. And...like I posted on Facebook....It was the farthest I've ever run.

Sore? Oh yeah, I surely was. And my eyes were stinging from the sweat that tasted like a bag of salt. Salt & Runners Now I understand why Furman used to get so salty from running so far. I mean you could literally brush the salt off his skin. I get it now!

Yup....I was damn proud of myself on Saturday!

Took a day or so to recuperate before I decided to get active again. This time, rollerblading with my husband and some friends. After watching some Victoria Day Fireworks with our friends up by the Lake on Sunday night, we made a plan to return on Monday to hang out and get some rollerblading in. The idea belonged to my friends daughter. Furman loves to rollerblade so he was definitely game. I was being the tag along. Wanted to see what I could do on rollerblades. (Hence, the protective gear. lmao) Of course, not until after she finished a school project she was working on. Don't you just hate when teachers give big projects to be completed over a long weekend? Like really! lol It got done though.

Wish I could have captured some photos of Furman. Smh. Rollerblading is not something that I really do, soooo....I had to leave my phone behind. I figured that if I took it with me that i'd fall on my ass and break it for sure. But, Furman had his camera since he is such a great skater. (Smile) So he captured a few pics of me....oh, and video. Check it out!

All in all, it was a lovely weekend - a weekend to remember.
And yay.....it's a short week.

Have an awesome week everyone!!!

Prayer.

A Midsummer Night's Run

Well, we are at it again!
What is wrong with me? lmao
It's Catie's fault...I totally blame her.
She sent me an IM at work about another run. This time, 15k.
Keep in mind, she still hasn't run her first 10k (that's scheduled for June 1st. I'll run it too), and we've both already signed up for our 1st 1/2.
So....when she saw this one she figured it would be a great warm up for the 1/2. I get it! I get it! She's kind of right though. This one is August 17 and the half is September 22nd. Oh...and it's got BLING! lol (I was getting after her for signing up for a 10k that didn't give any bling. lol)

I'm not sure what year these are from, but they are awfully nice!
I want one! lol
I'm supposed to run a 1/2 in September. So yeah, if I can't run a 15k by August, then something is definitely wrong with my training. So, i'm all in! Gonna do it! Just hoping Furman will be able to either run with me, train with me, or both! We'll see. Gotta check his schedule.

The Chocolate Race   A Mother's Day
Oh, and there is fundraising involved too. For SickKids. An awesome cause. Proceeds go to support the research and care for the Department of Rheumatology at the Hospital for Sick Kids. Donation Page. Your support would be greatly appreciated as every dollar counts. Please see video for Jessica's story, which is just one of many I am sure.

Thanking you for your support in advance.

And....thanks to YouTube and GetOutThere Magazine, here is a summary of what I am in for.

So yeah, what do ya think? lol

Thanks Catie....for pushing me girl....but if you decide to bungee off the CN Tower, you are on your own. lol

Only Took 10 yrs

I mean that literally!
10yrs!!!
As I mentioned in a previous post, Delayed Progress, I found a letter I had written almost a decade ago that was trying to accomplish what finally got accomplished. Mission NOT Impossible!
Mom has a new kitchen, mold free. Mom's Prize.
I've created these cute little collages to demonstrate the changes. Woo Hoo!

Apparently the mold was even worse than we thought.

After plastering and painting they had to dig a hole back in the wall to change pipes after another leak.

Just have to move her fridge back into place!
But it's done. By golly, it's done!!
See her SMILE!

It's been an adventure that I dare not have to repeat. But, I certainly made a lot of contacts to kick up some serious fuss. I'm feeling almost like an advocate now. Ready to get some action for other tenants! lol Big big thank you's to one of my mom's friends and fellow tenants. She has been completely awesome in soo many ways in helping me help my mom.

Last evening, we started to put the finishing touches on her kitchen. We went out shopping together to stock the cupboards and get some items for the fridge. Man was shopping with my mom fun! lol Smh. Learning what she likes, and doesn't like. Watching her watch those prices! She is a good shopper. But, she was trying to shop for a couple of days, I was trying to shop for the week. Kept telling her not to worry about the final bill...that's what I was here for!! lol Yet, we could only carry so much so we will definitely have to go back. But, at least she is off to a great start. And as you might be able to notice from the photo, she couldn't wait to start cooking. A beautiful site! I was putting things away and she was preparing her dinner. lol She is definitely anxious to have a family dinner. So, we'll probably do that on Sunday after church. After all, it's long weekend! Yeah baby!!

Even though they have a few more things to do.
Overall, i'm satisfied with the job that was done. Just not happy at everything I had to go through to get it done. It's a damn shame! Really feel sorry for those who don't have people to fight for them. They could have done a better job with certain things but I won't complain. Don't like her new kitchen floor though. They used the cheapest of cheap. lol That's for sure. She will definitely have work trying to keep that clean. It's almost as if it gets dirty from just breathing on it. hahaha Wait a minute...I said I won't complain!! STOP!!

So there you have it. My follow up, for those that have been following, you know....it's a good day!

Thought I would end my post with this song that i'm just loving these days. A song my dance instructor uses for our warm up. It's addictive and gets you moving...that's for sure. And....it kinda says how i'm feeling. lol

LOVE YOU MOM!!

A Mother's Day

What a busy weekend and absolutely awesome Mother's Day!

This years's Mother's Day was extremely special because my daughter took part in The Chocolate Race with me. She sure did. Not something she usually does which is why it meant even that much more to me. Love her! And, we topped off our day with a visit with Mom!! Can't miss that. Every year I usually take her to Mother's Day service at church but we had to miss out this year because of the run. But she was ok with that. All she cared about was being able to see me and I wasn't going to let her down.

Saturday evening, Furman and I joined in on the fun with a new social group at our church - The Mix. This group was created for those 25-40yrs of age. But, when we figured out that they weren't going to be carding anyone and since Furman and I look pretty good for our age anyways, the group leader was more than welcoming for us to join in. So, while we did bowling a week before, this time we met with about 15 others at a local Mexican Restaurant, Made In Mexico. It was actually really good food and of course the company of people we were with was awesome. Look forward to the next event we'll attend. Love my church family.

By the time we got home, my friend Catie was there. She lives hella far so it's always easier for her to come to town and travel with us in the morning. Our race was in St Catharines, Ontario which is about 2hrs away from my home so we had an early morning. Only problem, it was damn cold for some reason. After a week of decent weather, I don't know who Mother Nature was pissed off at. lol Wasn't me!! But if you know runners, you know that we ran anyways. lol

When we picked up our race packet there was a big disappointment. Apparently there had been a printing error. So, instead of our shirts saying IRun4Chocolate, this is what we got..... Now, what the hell is that? Vollie? We can't even claim it was supposed to say volleyball because it's spelled wrong. Tsk, Tsk. Some people took their permanent markers and crossed off Vollie to write Run (like Catie, on the right)...but it's just not the same. lol It'll go with my running shirt collection nonetheless. Oh, and as you'll notice to the right, Catie got 2 medals! She sure did. I am soo proud of her. She came 2nd in her age group with a time of 28:11. Left me in the dust! I finished at 31:50 which is around my usual finish time anyways. Still dreaming of under 30 minutes.
But.... we got our bling!!
Here is me and my running partner in crime! Love her!

We will be doing our 1st 1/2 Marathon in September. Ooo boy!
First, she's gotta play catch up and get her first 10k race under her belt. That, will be in a few weeks, and I have yet to register. Shame on me! Running4Home

Anyways, after the race and the awards ceremony we couldn't wait to get out of there. It was too darn cold to hang around. But, we did get a taste of the pink champaigne that was at the finish, and our selection of chocolates in a bag. Lord knows that I wasn't going to stop at the water/chocolate stations during the race to grab the skewers of chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate covered marshmallows. Oh noooo...that would have slowed me down for sure. lol So, i've got my treats in my lunchbag for today.

As I mentioned earlier, Mother's Day wouldn't be complete without seeing my Mom. So once we arrived home from the race we got changed and headed out because Mom was waiting, patiently! Took her out for an awesome dinner. I know that I was completely famished. You can see from her smile, that she was extremely happy. Made for the perfect ending to an awesome Mother's Day.

Home in time to watch Game 6 of the hockey game and well, I got through first period and that was it. hahaha I was knocked out! Cold! Hey!!!I was tired!! It was a long day. lol

Special Thank You to my daughter for running the race with her mom. Words cannot explain how much that meant to me. (I know she will be sore today) And thanks to my husband and dear friend Catie for helping me start the day off right! Thanks also to my mom, for always making me smile.
Son, i'm looking forward to Mother's Day once a month now. lol.
I love you all!

Now, to start a great week, starting with tonight's Game 7 that I will definitely see after my dance class. Second Class.
Go Leafs Go!!
Oh, and to follow up on the delivery of Mom's Prize. Today, is supposed to be the day!! Fingers crossed.
Already heard that the President of Housing will be paying a special visit to Mom's apartment today. lol Things are gonna get done!! Finally! Then, we'll celebrate.

Have a great week everybody!
God Bless

Delayed Progress

Well, just giving you all an update on what's been going on with my battle to get my moms apartment repaired. lol For those that have been following. I may have won, but haven't gotten Moms Prize quite yet. But I'm not giving up because I already know that Mission NOT Impossible.

While digging around for some files on the computer today, (you know, trying to organize and file in a duotang all that pertains to this mission), I came across some very old correspondence that actually shocked me. I found a letter that I had written in May of 2004!! It was addressed to everyone and anybody that would listen. Clearly, I wrote the letter out of desperation. Not sure where it went though. Thing is, it was about the exact same thing I've been fighting now...."Foreign Bacteria Growth" (as I stated in the letter..lol) in my mothers kitchen and the overall state of disrepair of her unit. 2004!! I clearly identified in the letter that back in June/July of 2003 that one of my auntie's had made an attempt to get someone to address the repairs when she visited the management office in person. Of course, she was fed LIES that it would be taken care of! And, I noted that my cousin also wrote a letter of her own to try and get some action with no luck. God Bless them both for trying! Love them. And i'll add that they did an awesome job in raising me for the years I was with them. (big smile)

Excerpt from a 2006 email
Oh, but the correspondence doesn't end there! I also found some emails I had saved in an old email account that I no longer use. No kidding! They were addressing the same issue. lol In fact, these emails were in 2006 when I was fighting to get repairs done to my moms apartment before she returned home from the hospital. This was when she had been diagnosed with Cancer. I had to contact the Public Health Department at this time. I remember that someone from the hospital even went to my mom's home for an inspection when I insisted that her return there was not good for her health. At that time, I managed to finally get some things done. Unfortunately, what they did was cover up the mold, replaster and paint. lol Funny thing is, that in my emails from 2006, I was blasting them for the horrible job that they did. Check out the excerpt. lol

Anyways, I printed and filed all that I had found. I should have known I had something still documented. lol Then, I started writing some more emails today. After all, it's been a month since I first wrote the President of Housing and contacted, once again, Public Health and the Licensing and Standards Commission. While they took care of the mold issue immediately and properly this time, mom is still waiting for her kitchen to be completed. This means, that she is unable to cook or anything because she has nothing. I was there last week and took photos of the job they completed after the mold cleanup, to show what it looks like while we wait for the cupboards. You know I had to take one with mom in it. lol Don't let her beautiful smile fool you....she is just as unhappy as I am that she is still waiting. Ok...I'm more angry actually. Just don't like people treating my mother poorly...regardless of who you are!!

Ta Da!!! This, was last week.

These, are this week!!

Apparently there is another leak in the building! In my moms unit specifically or so I've been told. Good thing they hadn't installed her new cupboards yet. They have now started tearing out her kitchen wall again. This, is part of what prompted my email writing campaign today. They are going backwards. lol I wanted to make sure that the powers that be knew exactly what was going on. I wanted something in writing that told me when this was going to be completed once and for all!

When they started the mold remediation I received an email that outlined exactly what would be done (including all the extras) and roughly when it would be completed, which clearly doesn't seem like they will be meeting. So, when I forwarded my emails today, I not only emphasized the delay but noted the inconvenience and additional cost that has resulted from mom not having a kitchen for her meals. Oh, and I didn't fail to mention the history of emails I had come across. hahaha I also included the oldest from 2004 in my email for the President to read. Thought he might be interested to see that this fight has gone on for 10 years and has been documented!!!

Anyways, it didn't take long to get an email from the building superintendant the provided me a timeline in writing. According to what he's written, Monday should be the grand finale! Mind you, I don't believe anything they say. lol Have reason not to. And on the drive home, I got a call from a big wig. lol He got my email too, and what I sent the President. (That included a video of the current state of my mothers apartment). Yup! He called to GUARANTEE that this work will be done next week. lol GUARANTEE I tell ya! Thems big words!! So, i'll keep documenting and follow up next week with everybody!! haha And when it's all said and done....I've got something else in store for them, if all goes well. Can't wait to show pictures of the new beautiful kitchen and the even bigger smile on moms face.

Uh....I gotta go now. Gotta watch Game 3 of the Toronto Maple Leaf vs Boston Bruins game. At least until Furman gets home and wants to watch Miami vs Chicago in basketball. lol

GO LEAFS GO!!

Just Need To Laugh

I came across this poem online today.
Worth sharing!
I couldn't find any reference to who wrote this masterpiece.
Whether you've had one or not....you just need to laugh.

Ode to a Mammogram

For years and years they told me, "Be careful of your breasts."
Don't ever squeeze or bruise them, and give them monthly tests.

So, I heeded all their warnings.....and protected them by law....
Guarded them very carefully, and always wore a bra.

After 10 years of careful care, the doctor found a lump.
He ordered up a mammogram to look inside that clump.
"Stand up very close," the nurse said, as she got my tit in line,
"And tell me when it hurts," she said. "Ah, yes....that's just fine."

She stepped upon a pedal....I could not believe my eyes,
A plastic plate was pressing down....My boob was in a vice....

My skin was stretched and stretched from way up by my chin,
And my poor tit was being squashed to Swedish pancake thing......

Excruciating pain I felt, within it's vice-like grip,
A prisoner in this vicious thing.....My poor defenseless tit......

"Take a deep breath" she said to me. Who does she think she's kidding?
My chest is smashed in her machine, I can't breathe and woozy I am getting!

"There, that was good" I heard her say, as the room was slowly swaying.
"Now let's get the other one."........"Lord have mercy," I was praying.

It squeezed me from the up and down, it squeezed me from both sides,
I'll bet she never has this done to HER tender little hide.

If I had no problem when I first came in, I surely have one now......
If there had been a cyst in there, it would have popped Ker-Pow!

This machine was made by a MAN, of this I have no doubt.....
I'd like to get his balls in there.....for months he'd go WITHOUT!

15 and Counting....

Well, I celebrated my 15 year office anniversary yesterday.
It's actually not until the weekend, but the boss was in town with my gift.
(Don't worry, she wasn't making a special trip for me. lol)
Oh, and in usual fashion, the company has it BRANDED under the face. lol
She works in a different office and doesn't visit us very much. Now that's definitely a good thing. But, I was kind of expecting that she'd be around to deliver my tokens of service in person. I got a 15yr pin too. Oh, and a desk clock complimentary from our VP of Operations.
The watch - I actually ordered it from a catalogue that our company gives u, to choose items to mark your anniversary. All within a specific price range of course. Lol. How much do you think they should spend on an employee that has only worked 15 yrs? :) As you can see, I chose the Guess Watch. Price it out...that will give you the answer to the question I just asked. lol I'm certainly not complaining. Trust me on that one. It's a bit different from the one that my husband bought me (round face as opposed to rectangular, and silver face as opposed to black), but just as blingy to match my ring. lol. Who doesn't love the bling?

15 years and counting....my oh my...it seems like forever.
People that get hired with my company seem to never leave until they have to. I've learned myself, that if you don't get out within the first two years, you are kind of stuck. The pay and benefits are just too good. lol
So here I am!
You know what though....while 15 years may sound like a lot, for reasons I just explained, it leaves me near the bottom of the totem pole of seniority. That part sucks! It really does. I get last choice in everything (at least in my group)  and will be one of the first to go if my department ever gets hit with cuts. How's that for 15 years? But we all know that there is no job security ANYWHERE! That being said, I love my job...except for the politics that I will not talk about because I love my job. lol And, expect to be here for many more years to come. Hey, i'm that much closer to earning an extra week of vacation. lol Think I have a few more years to go. What ever will I do with another week? lol

IN OTHER SHARING: lol
I went to see an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist today. I gotta write about it because this Dr is amazing. My family Dr first referred me to a specialist in early 2012 after I had gone to him with some problems I was having: constant headaches, trouble breathing, congestion, nasal drip creating problems sleeping. Well, after waiting a long time to just get an appt, I had to wait even longer for the appt to come around. Low and behold, a few days before the appt, the Specialists office contacted me to cancel the appointment and advised that they would call me back to re-book. That, they never did! So, I went back to my family Dr to find out who I was supposed to be seeing and that took more time. Got another referral, but I was adamant that I didn't want to be referred to the same Dr.. So, when they asked me if I had a Dr in mind, I ended up getting a recommendation from a dear friend. Thanks girl!! Within 48 hours of my giving the name of the Dr I wanted to see to my own Dr, I had a call to set up an appt that was within the same week.

This morning, I was at this Dr's office all bright eye and bushy tailed before work. When he sat me in the office, I got nervous. There wasn't much in there. But, I did notice what I now know to be called a Nasal Endoscope. Something like that. I stared at this thing wondering if he was going to use that on me. Is he going to put me to sleep? What is he going to do?

Well let me tell you....He used the damn thing...and I was wide awake while he did it. lol It was quite the experience. (E! E! E!) Not something I necessarily want to do again. I'll save you the YouTube video demonstrations!  yuck
I wasn't nervous! Hell yeah I was! But I knew I was in good hands. Word has it that this Dr used to work for Mother Teresa in Kolkata, India so he knows his stuff. When all was said and done...after getting the answers to a few questions he asked me and after seeing what he needed to see live and direct....he knew what the problem was and said he would fix me up within 2 months! Soo excited! So he gave me a prescription for his "Special Potion". lol No Lies! (Was actually written on the Rx) Something to take in the morning and at night and then something different to use in the car and while at work. Oh...and I need to start sleeping with a Humidifier. At least while he fixes me up over the next few months.

I'll be able to breathe properly!! Just might help my running too! Trust me, i'm sure this makes my husband very happy too. A healthy wife is a happy life right?

On that note, the appt I have next week is the one that i'm most stressed about. But...I wont say anymore about THAT until it's all said and done. Once we get through the struggle, then we can share the Victory!

I absolutely HATE THIS PICTURE...lol
But thought I would share it anyways. You know, to get my point across.

Well, Happy Thursday! You know what day it is....Second Class.
